When you arrive in Hangzhou, our driver will be waiting for you at the airport or train station with a private transfer directly to your hotel. No need to worry about navigation or local transport—we'll handle everything from the moment you arrive.
After check-in, we take you to start your first gentle introduction to the city. Today's focus is the West Lake lakeside area and Leifeng Pagoda, one of Hangzhou's most iconic landmarks. From the top, you can already get a sense of how the lake, hills, and city blend into one landscape.
As you walk around the lakeside, the atmosphere feels calm and unhurried—locals strolling, boats moving slowly across the water, and willow trees reflecting on the surface. This is not a rushed sightseeing stop, but a slow entry into Hangzhou's rhythm.
In the afternoon or evening, we may take you to a nearby old street area, where small shops, tea houses, and traditional architecture give you a first glimpse of local daily life.
After breakfast at your hotel, your guide and driver will meet you in the lobby and take you out for a full-day exploration of Hangzhou's most iconic scenery and cultural highlights. Today is designed to let you experience Hangzhou in its most complete form—water, temples, and tea hills in one smooth route.
We begin at West Lake, where you board a comfortable sightseeing boat for a relaxing cruise. As the boat gently moves across the water, the scenery unfolds slowly in front of you—arched bridges, distant pagodas, willow trees hanging over the shoreline, and soft green hills wrapping around the lake. Unlike a walking tour, seeing West Lake from the water gives you a calmer, more immersive perspective of why this landscape has inspired poets and painters for centuries.
After the cruise, we continue to Lingyin Temple, one of the most important and atmospheric Buddhist temples in China. Tucked into a forested valley, the temple feels naturally integrated into its surroundings. As you walk through its halls, stone carvings, and incense-filled courtyards, the atmosphere becomes noticeably quieter and more reflective. Your guide will share the historical background and cultural meaning behind the temple, helping you understand its role in Hangzhou's spiritual life.
From here, the journey shifts from culture to nature as we head into the green hills of Longjing Tea Village. This is where the famous Dragon Well tea is grown. Driving up into the tea terraces, you'll see rows of neatly layered tea fields stretching across the hillsides. Here, you don't just observe the landscape—you walk through it. We take you into a local tea plantation where you can learn how tea leaves are picked, processed, and roasted using traditional methods that have been passed down for generations.
A freshly prepared local lunch is arranged in a nearby countryside restaurant, usually surrounded by tea fields or quiet village scenery. It's a simple but very authentic meal that matches the pace of the day.
In the afternoon, you'll have time to sit down for a Longjing tea tasting experience, where freshly brewed tea is served while you overlook the surrounding green hills. This is often one of the most memorable parts of the day—slow, quiet, and deeply connected to the landscape.
After finishing the tea village visit, we drive you back to your hotel. The rest of the evening is free, giving you time to rest or take a gentle walk around the lakeside if you wish.
After breakfast at your hotel, your driver will meet you in the lobby and take you to Hangzhou Railway Station for your high-speed train journey to Huangshan. Everything is pre-arranged, so you don't need to handle tickets or timing—we coordinate the transfer based on your departure schedule to keep the day smooth and stress-free.
As the train leaves Hangzhou, the scenery gradually begins to change. You'll see city skylines fade into wide rivers, farmland, and distant green hills. The transition is subtle but noticeable, marking your move from lakeside elegance into a more traditional and mountainous landscape.
Upon arrival at Huangshan North Railway Station, your local guide will be waiting at the exit with a name sign and will escort you directly to your vehicle. From here, we drive you into Tunxi District, the historical core of Huangshan city.
We begin your exploration at Tunxi Old Street, one of the best-preserved traditional streets in the region. Unlike reconstructed tourist areas, this street still retains its original Hui-style architecture, with wooden fa?ades, stone-paved lanes, and small family-run shops that have been here for generations. Walking here feels unhurried and authentic—you're not just sightseeing, but stepping into a living piece of local history.
Along the way, you'll have time to browse small tea shops, traditional craft stores, and local specialty snacks. Your guide will also point out architectural details that reflect Hui culture, such as horse-head walls and intricate wooden carvings that define this region's style.
Next, we introduce you to a unique cultural highlight of Huangshan: traditional ink-making (Hui ink culture). This region is one of the historical origins of Chinese ink production, and you'll visit a local workshop where artisans still produce ink sticks using ancient methods. From grinding soot to shaping and drying, each step reflects a craft that has remained almost unchanged for centuries.
This experience is not just demonstration-based—you'll have time to observe closely, ask questions, and understand how this craft was once essential to Chinese painting and calligraphy traditions.
A local-style lunch is arranged at a carefully selected restaurant in Tunxi, giving you a first taste of Anhui cuisine, which is more delicate and slightly earthy compared to coastal cities.
In the afternoon, the pace slows down. You can enjoy a relaxed walk in the old street area or return to your hotel to rest and prepare for tomorrow's Huangshan mountain exploration. This day is designed as a gentle transition—moving from city comfort into the deeper cultural and natural atmosphere of Huangshan.
After breakfast at your hotel in the Huangshan area, your guide will meet you in the lobby and take you directly to the entrance of Mount Huangshan Scenic Area. From here, the journey gradually shifts from cultural exploration into pure natural landscape immersion.
We start by taking the cable car up the mountain, where the scenery changes quickly as you ascend. Forests grow denser, the air becomes cooler, and granite peaks begin to rise above layers of mist. It feels like entering a completely different world, where nature becomes the main focus of everything around you.
Our first major stop is the Yuping Scenic Area, home to one of the most iconic symbols of Huangshan—the Welcoming Pine (Yingke Song). This ancient pine tree grows dramatically from the cliffside, with branches extending outward as if greeting every visitor who arrives. Standing here, you can immediately understand why this mountain has inspired countless Chinese paintings and poems for centuries.
From Yuping, we continue along carefully selected walking routes toward nearby viewpoints, where the landscape opens up into dramatic ridgelines and layered mountain peaks. Your guide will adjust the walking pace based on weather and crowd conditions, ensuring you experience the best viewpoints without rushing.
Around midday, we take a break for a simple but warm mountain lunch inside the scenic area. It's designed for convenience and energy recovery rather than luxury, allowing you to continue exploring comfortably in the afternoon.
In the later part of the day, we move toward higher viewpoints where the scenery becomes even more dramatic. If weather conditions are favorable, you may witness the famous sea of clouds phenomenon, where mountain peaks appear to float above drifting mist. The landscape changes constantly with light and wind, making every moment feel different from the last.
We plan the timing carefully so that you can stay at one of the best sunset spots on the mountain. As the sun begins to lower, the peaks turn golden, shadows stretch across the valleys, and the entire mountain range slowly transforms in color and mood.
After the experience, we descend back to your hotel for rest. The return journey is quiet and reflective—after a full day in the mountains, the stillness feels even more profound.
After breakfast at your hotel, you will have some free time depending on your departure schedule. This is your final morning in the Huangshan area, so the pace is kept relaxed, giving you a chance to enjoy a slow start and take in the mountain atmosphere one last time.
At the confirmed time, your guide and driver will meet you at the hotel and provide a private transfer to Huangshan North Railway Station, depending on your onward journey. Everything is arranged in advance, so you don't need to worry about timing, luggage handling, or coordination.
As you leave Huangshan, the scenery gradually unfolds once more—quiet valleys, traditional villages, and distant mountain silhouettes fading behind you. It's a gentle contrast to yesterday's dramatic peaks, offering a final, peaceful impression of the region. If your schedule allows, we can also arrange a short stop or scenic drive along the way, giving you one last glimpse of the rural landscapes that define Anhui province.
Upon arrival at the airport or train station, your driver will assist with luggage and ensure you reach the correct departure point smoothly.
This marks the end of your 5-day journey through Hangzhou and Huangshan—an experience that blends lakes, tea culture, ancient towns, and some of China's most iconic mountain scenery.
