Our 5-day fairyland journey kicks off comfortably with a hotel pickup in Shanghai. No brutal early-morning rush. We'll collect you directly from your hotel and head to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station for a smooth high-speed rail journey to Huangshan North (around 2.5–3 hours). Sit back and relax as the city skyline gradually fades into rolling green countryside — your vacation mode starts the moment you leave Shanghai.
Here's where our professionalism first shows: no tedious queuing, no confusing public transport transfers, no negotiating with local taxis. Upon arrival at Huangshan North, your private car and local guide will already be waiting at the exit. As soon as you step off the train, we assist with your luggage and transfer you directly to Tangkou Town, the gateway to Huangshan Scenic Area.
After checking into a carefully selected comfortable hotel at the mountain foot, we keep the rest of the day slow and easy. Instead of rushing through sightseeing, we take a relaxed stroll around town, enjoy the noticeably fresh mountain air, and settle into the slower rhythm of Huangshan life. For dinner, you'll taste authentic Huizhou cuisine such as braised stone tofu, cured pork with bamboo shoots, and seasonal wild mountain vegetables known only to locals.
In the evening, your guide will provide a detailed pre-trek briefing for the next day, including hiking route planning, sunrise and sunset timing, temperature differences, packing suggestions, and crowd-avoidance tips. Tonight is all about full rest and recovery — so you're fully prepared for tomorrow's Huangshan summit adventure.
Today is the core highlight of the whole trip — our full-day immersive Huangshan trekking! We get up at a relaxed hour, have a hearty breakfast, and head straight to Huangshan Scenic Area with our guide. Thanks to our pre-booked tickets and off-peak arrangement, we skip long tourist queues and enter the scenic area smoothly.
To let you enjoy the scenery to the fullest without wasting physical strength, we adopt the most scientific hiking route: cableway up the mountain + gentle ridge trekking + slow sightseeing, abandoning those exhausting endless steep steps that torture most tourists' knees.
The moment the cableway rises, you'll understand why Huangshan is hailed as "the No.1 mountain under heaven". Layered peaks stand towering, ancient pines cling tenaciously to steep cliffs, and thin mist drifts freely among the valleys. Every frame outside the window is a moving Chinese ink wash painting.
We spend the whole day wandering Huangshan's core classic scenic spots at a lazy pace. We pay homage to the 800-year-old iconic Welcome Pine, overlook the precipitous and grand Tiandu Peak, walk across the open Aoyu Peak Ridge for a 360° panoramic mountain view, and visit the magical Feilai Stone and Guangming Peak. We also reserve flexible time for a mini light hike in the shallow area of Xihai Grand Canyon, where layered valley peaks and winding plank roads bring shocking visual impact.
Different from rushed group tours that only snap 2-minute photos at each spot, we stay longer at every high-value viewpoint. Our guide will take you to niche uncrowded photo spots to avoid crowded mainstream check-in points, helping you capture clean, fairyland-level travel photos.
In the evening, we wait for the stunning mountain sunset at the best viewing platform. Watching the golden glow spread across the sea of clouds and dye the rolling peaks warm orange, the whole mountain is wrapped in soft twilight — a super romantic exclusive scene only for overnight summit travelers.
We stay overnight at a high-quality Huangshan summit hotel. No need to rush downhill in the dark after a whole day's hiking. You can enjoy the quiet alpine night, listen to the soft mountain wind, and rest well to welcome tomorrow's stunning sunrise!
The biggest reward for staying on the summit is waking up to the legendary Huangshan sunrise! We get up at a moderate time, walk a short distance from the hotel to the exclusive sunrise viewing platform, and quietly wait for the first ray of dawn breaking through the sea of clouds.
Watching the sky gradually change from fish-belly white to pink and golden, the sun slowly rises above the stacked peaks, dispelling the lingering morning mist. The whole Huangshan mountain range wakes up in golden dawn — magnificent, healing, and absolutely worth getting up early for. After the sunrise, we stroll through the morning mountain roads. The air is fresh and misty, with an extremely high chance of encountering a wandering sea of clouds, presenting a totally different ethereal beauty from yesterday's daytime scenery.
After finishing the in-depth exploration of Huangshan's remaining core scenery and enjoying a leisurely breakfast on the mountain, we take the cableway downhill slowly. Our private car is already waiting at the scenic area exit, transferring us directly to Hongcun Ancient Village (about 1 hour drive).
The scenery switches perfectly here! Just now we were immersed in the grand and wild mountain fairyland; now we step into the gentle and quiet ink-wash ancient village. Known as "the village in Chinese paintings", Hongcun is famous for its winding water alleys, lotus ponds, and well-preserved Hui-style ancient architecture with white walls and black tiles.
Our guide will lead you to wander the bluestone ancient alleys, avoid crowded commercial streets, and explore the most primitive and quiet corners of Hongcun. We visit the century-old ancient houses with exquisite wood carvings, watch the clear village stream winding through the whole village, and enjoy the classic reflected scenery of ancient houses in the water. Every step is a poetic painting, super suitable for slow walking and casual photography.
We stay overnight near Hongcun Ancient Village tonight, enjoying the quiet night of the ancient village away from city hustle and bustle.
After two days of grand mountain and classic village scenery, today we slow down further and unlock two niche, less-commercialized Huizhou hidden gems that 90% of tourists miss — Tangmo Ancient Village and Huizhou Ancient Town, letting you experience the real local Huizhou lifestyle.
Compared with the well-known Hongcun, Tangmo is a quiet treasure hidden in Huizhou's mountains, hailed as the "Millennium Water Street, Hometown of Scholars". Built in the Tang Dynasty with a history of over 1,400 years, it perfectly integrates geomantic water mouth gardens, Hui-style architecture and pastoral scenery, far more primitive and tranquil than over-commercialized ancient towns.
We stroll along the core Tangan Stream Water Street, the soul of Tangmo Village. The clear stream runs through the entire village, with 40-meter-long covered corridors and ancient stone bridges lining both sides, forming the amazing "ten bridges, ten different views" landscape. Walking on the bluestone road by the stream, listening to the gurgling water, you'll instantly feel the slow and peaceful ancient rural rhythm.
Our guide will take you to visit the village's core landmarks: the elegant Tangan Garden (known as "Huizhou Mini West Lake") with ingenious pavilions, terraces and rockeries; the grand Tongbao Hanlin Archway recording the ancient Huizhou scholarly culture; and the 400-year-old ancient camphor tree. We also find the best photography spots to capture the beautiful scene of ancient houses reflecting in the stream, full of ancient Jiangnan charm.
After finishing the leisurely visit to Tangmo, we take a private car to Huizhou Ancient Town, the real ancient political, cultural and commercial center of ancient Huizhou. Unlike single rural ancient villages, this old town carries the profound thousand-year history and heritage of Huizhou civilization.
We wander the old streets full of vicissitudes, visit well-preserved ancient archways, old government offices and traditional Hui-style old houses. Our professional guide will tell you vivid stories of Huizhou merchants' legend, ancient imperial examination culture and local folk customs, letting you truly understand the profound cultural connotation behind Hui-style architecture, not just superficial sightseeing.
Here, you can also taste authentic local street snacks that tourists rarely get to try, experience the most down-to-earth Huizhou local life, and end today's cultural and leisurely exploration. We stay overnight near Huizhou Ancient Town tonight.
On the last day of our trip, we don't arrange tight trekking or crowded scenic spots. We use the most relaxed way to bid farewell to Huizhou — a slow visit to Xin'an River Landscape Belt.
Xin'an River is the mother river of Huizhou, and also the most healing natural landscape in this area. Different from the grandness of Huangshan Mountain and the delicacy of ancient villages, the Xin'an River presents a fresh, elegant and wild pastoral beauty. The river water is clear and green, with rolling green mountains on both banks, scattered rural cottages, and lush waterfront vegetation. It's like a long scroll of moving pastoral landscape painting.
We take a leisurely riverside walk, breathe the super fresh waterfront air, listen to the gentle flowing river water, and enjoy the quiet rural time. If the weather is good, the morning mist lingers on the river surface, adding a hazy fairyland texture to the whole scenery. This is the best soothing finale after four days of mountain trekking and village exploration.
After enjoying the Xin'an River scenery and having a relaxed local lunch, our private car transfers us back to Huangshan North Railway Station. We take the high-speed rail back to Shanghai, ending this perfect 5-day nature and countryside escape journey.
