Upon arrival in Shanghai, your guide or driver will meet you at the airport or railway station and transfer you comfortably to your hotel for check-in. The rest of the day is free at leisure—relax after your journey or take a gentle walk nearby to get your first impression of the city's vibrant atmosphere. In the evening, you may explore local cafés or enjoy a riverside stroll at your own pace.
Begin your day at Yuyuan Garden, Shanghai's most celebrated classical garden dating back to the Ming Dynasty. Wander through elegant pavilions, zigzag bridges, ornamental rockeries, and tranquil ponds that showcase the beauty of traditional Chinese landscape design. Just outside the garden, explore the bustling Yuyuan Bazaar, where centuries-old architecture, local delicacies, and handcrafted souvenirs create a lively cultural atmosphere.
Next, continue to Tianzifang, a vibrant maze of narrow alleyways filled with art studios, boutique shops, cafés, and galleries. Then head to the nearby French Concession, one of Shanghai's most charming districts, where tree-lined avenues, historic villas, and hidden courtyards reflect the city's unique blend of Eastern and Western influences.
Later, stroll along Nanjing Road, China's most famous shopping street, where historic landmarks stand alongside modern malls and neon-lit storefronts. Continue to The Bund, Shanghai's iconic waterfront promenade, where magnificent colonial-era buildings face the futuristic skyscrapers of Pudong across the Huangpu River, creating one of the city's most recognizable views.
In the evening, you may choose to join an optional Huangpu River Cruise. As the city lights begin to sparkle, enjoy panoramic views of Shanghai's illuminated skyline, passing beneath famous bridges and alongside some of the city's most impressive architectural landmarks.
Depart from Shanghai after breakfast and enjoy a comfortable drive of approximately one hour to Zhujiajiao Water Town, a picturesque ancient settlement often referred to as the "Venice of Shanghai." With a history of more than 1,700 years, this charming water town is known for its tranquil canals, stone bridges, and well-preserved Ming and Qing Dynasty architecture.
Wander along stone-paved lanes, cross gracefully arched bridges, and admire centuries-old riverside residences adorned with traditional tile roofs and carved wooden details. Along the way, discover hidden courtyards, local temples, and waterside shops that offer a glimpse into the region's rich cultural heritage.
For a more immersive experience, you may choose to take an optional wooden boat ride along the canals, gliding past historic homes, bustling markets, and quiet waterways while enjoying a different perspective of the town.
Later, explore local teahouses and traditional snack stalls, where you can sample regional specialties and browse handcrafted souvenirs. After a leisurely visit, return to Shanghai in the late afternoon and enjoy the evening at your own pace.
After breakfast, travel from Shanghai to Suzhou, one of China's most elegant and culturally rich cities. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes by high-speed train or around 1.5–2 hours by private vehicle, making Suzhou an ideal day trip from Shanghai.
Upon arrival, visit the Humble Administrator's Garden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the finest example of classical Chinese garden design. Stroll through a harmonious landscape of tranquil ponds, graceful pavilions, zigzag bridges, and ornamental rockeries, where every view has been carefully crafted to reflect the balance between nature and architecture. As you wander through the garden, discover why Suzhou has long been celebrated as the “City of Gardens.”
Next, continue to Panmen Gate, the only surviving ancient water-and-land city gate in China. Surrounded by historic city walls, canals, and traditional bridges, this remarkable landmark offers fascinating insights into Suzhou's past as an important commercial and cultural center. The combination of military architecture and scenic waterways makes it one of the city's most distinctive historic sites.
Later, take a leisurely stroll along Shantang Street, a lively canal-side thoroughfare with a history of more than 1,000 years. Wander past whitewashed houses, stone bridges, traditional teahouses, and local boutiques while soaking up the timeless charm of Jiangnan water-town culture. Along the way, sample regional specialties, browse handicrafts, or simply enjoy the picturesque scenery reflected in the canals.
After a rewarding day exploring Suzhou's cultural treasures and historic waterways, return to Shanghai by high-speed train or private vehicle in the evening.
Take a high-speed train to Hangzhou, a city celebrated for its picturesque landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Upon arrival, our guide will meet you at Hangzhou train station, and take you to the city. Begin with a scenic cruise on West Lake, the city's most iconic landmark. Glide past elegant arched bridges, tranquil waterways, classical pavilions, and pagodas rising above landscaped gardens, all of which have inspired poets and painters for centuries. Capture the serene reflections on the water and admire the harmonious blend of nature and architecture.
Next, visit Lingyin Temple, one of China's most important and historic Buddhist temples. Explore its grand halls, ancient stone carvings, and serene courtyards while learning about the temple's thousand-year history and spiritual significance.
Afterward, head to Meijiawu Longjing Tea Plantation, where you can stroll among lush tea terraces, watch traditional hand-picking and processing techniques, and taste the world-famous Longjing green tea. Learn about the unique cultivation methods that give this tea its delicate flavor and fragrance.
Finally, unwind with a leisurely walk along the Bamboo Path at Yunqi, a peaceful trail lined with towering bamboo groves, where the rustling leaves and filtered sunlight create a perfect atmosphere for reflection and photography. Conclude the day by checking into your hotel and enjoying the tranquil evening in Hangzhou.
Begin the day at the Six Harmonies Pagoda, an iconic riverside landmark overlooking the Qiantang River. This ancient pagoda, built over a thousand years ago, is renowned for its elegant architecture and historical significance. Climb to the top to enjoy sweeping panoramic views of the river, surrounding hills, and the cityscape of Hangzhou—a perfect spot for photography and to appreciate the harmony between nature and human craftsmanship.
Next, visit Hu Xueyan's Former Residence, a lavish mansion of a prominent 19th-century merchant. Step inside to explore intricately carved halls, serene courtyards, and richly decorated rooms, all of which offer a fascinating glimpse into Qing Dynasty luxury and the lifestyle of Hangzhou's wealthy elite.
Afterward, take a leisurely walk along Hefang Historical Street, a bustling pedestrian thoroughfare brimming with traditional architecture, centuries-old shops, local artisans, and specialty snack stalls. Sample Hangzhou delicacies such as savory pastries or sweet treats, browse handcrafted souvenirs, and immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere that reflects the city's rich heritage.
Finally, end the day at the Qianjiang New City Balcony, a popular modern waterfront viewpoint where you can relax and admire spectacular vistas of Hangzhou's skyline, the shimmering Qiantang River, and the surrounding natural scenery, especially enchanting at sunset.
Optional Night Activity: Qianjiang New Town Light Show
It is a spectacular nighttime display where futuristic skyscrapers and the riverside skyline come alive with dazzling lights along the Qiantang River in Hangzhou.
Spend the morning enjoying an AI experience in Hangzhou, where you'll step into an interactive world of innovation and digital technology. Explore immersive AI applications, smart city demonstrations, and creative technology showcases that highlight how artificial intelligence is shaping modern daily life in China. This hands-on experience offers a unique contrast to traditional cultural sightseeing and gives you insight into Hangzhou's role as a leading hub for innovation.
In the afternoon, visit the Beijing–Hangzhou Grand Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world's longest man-made waterway. Walk along the historic canal district around Gongchen Bridge, where centuries-old architecture lines the water and local life continues as it has for generations. Step aboard a traditional canal boat to experience the waterway from a local perspective, observing daily trade, historic bridges, and merchant houses along the banks. Enhance your understanding of the canal's cultural and economic importance with visits to nearby museums, such as the China Grand Canal Museum, where interactive exhibits bring the history of this engineering marvel to life.
After the tour, return comfortably to your hotel.
Enjoy some free time this morning for last-minute sightseeing, shopping, or simply relaxing before your scheduled transfer to Hangzhou Airport or Train Station. As your journey comes to an end, take with you unforgettable memories of Shanghai's vibrant cityscape, Suzhou's timeless gardens, and Hangzhou's scenic beauty.
